The Mets have optioned
RHP D. J. Carrasco to Buffalo.
Carrasco was signed to a two-year contract this past offseason and his demotion comes as a surprise. It is expected that he was optioned so that
RHP Dillon Gee can remain with the team as a long reliever. No corresponding move has been made yet, but Carrasco's roster spot is expected to be filled when
RHP Chris Young returns from the 15-day disabled list tomorrow. Carrasco is still on the 40-man roster.
